Younger skin does not need a complicated routine. A few safe habits matter more than a long product list.
Keep the base light
Skin often looks best with minimal coverage. A tinted moisturiser or a little concealer where needed is usually enough.
Protect from the sun
The NHS advises sunscreen of at least SPF 30 with at least 4-star UVA protection. Many everyday moisturisers and tints include SPF, but check that the label meets those figures rather than assuming.
Remove makeup every night
Sleeping in makeup is best avoided. A gentle cleanser, or an oil-based cleanser followed by a mild second cleanse, removes most products.
Hygiene and sharing
Do not share eye products such as mascara, and replace them regularly. Wash brushes and sponges often.
Read the label
Ingredients are listed using standard INCI names, in descending order down to the 1 percent level. If skin reacts, stop using the product and speak to a pharmacist or doctor.
