Egypt is a country in North Africa with population of about 104.2 million. It is dominated by one ethnic group: The Egyptians, the other smaller groups are the Bedouins, Nubians, Copts and the Berbers. The predominant religion is Islam, then Christianity and ancient Egyptian religion. It is a country well-spoken of in the Bible, where there were a lot of encounters in the history of Christianity. It is one of the world’s earliest civilization home with rich heritage of language and culture. The official language in Egypt is Egyptian Arabic, others spoken languages of smaller groups include Sa’idi Arabic and Coptic.

As an Arabic country, fashions in Egypt are modest and most parts of the body are covered. In some cases, the head and hair must be covered with scarf or hijab, although light linen can be worn because of heat.

TRIBES IN EGYPT AND THEIR FASHION

The Egyptians

Modern day Egyptian attire may be slightly different from ancient Egypt attire. A typical Egyptian attire include kilts, skirts, cloaks, shawls etc. Men wear aprons attached to a belt or a band around their waist. The shirt or kilt may be short to cover the hips alone or long from the chest to ankle. Modern Egyptian women wear gowns, trousers or long enough to cover their body then covering their head and hair with hijab or scarf. The Croptian-the orthodox- christians

The women  do not cover their hair with hijab, and this differentiates them from the muslims. They wear some colourful sharb sheer or black takha. The males do not dress differently from the muslim rather most of them have small cross tattoed on their wrist.

On special occasion like wedding, the groom dress like a priest with a crown, while the women cover their hair with a veil adorned with a crown.
